Scholarship Application 2012

The application for the 2012 Connecticut Nurserymen’s Foundation Scholarship can be filled out electronically and downloaded from
www.flowersplantsinct.com by clicking on key documents and then on CNF
Scholarship Application. In order to save resources and time, students will
need to submit their application via email to: TBodnar@whiteflowerfarm.com Please fill in all requested information. Pages 1-4 is to be completed by the
student applicant; pages 5-6 to be completed by the student’s parent(s). Letters of recommendation, transcripts, SAT scores, Student Aid
Report (SAR) and letters of acceptance should be scanned if at all possible and
filed electronically. Otherwise please mail them to the above address.
The applicant must be accepted into a course of study beneficial to the
Horticultural industry. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Ornamental Horticulture
• Landscape Design
• Nursery Management
• Greenhouse Management.
The scholarship grant will be $5,000 per year, renewable if the student
maintains academic eligibility in college.
• Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA).
• Students must be residents of the State of Connecticut, and may attend either
in state or out of state institutions. The student must be a high school senior or currently enrolled at the college
level, majoring in a horticulture related field.
All completed and signed applications must be received by the Foundation no
later than Friday, March 9, 2012. No application will be considered without the following:
• Copies of the Student Aid Report (SAR)
• Copies of Financial Aid Award letter (if received)
• At least two letters of recommendation
• High school records, grades (college grades for those already enrolled in a
college level program) and SAT scores
• A copy of the Letter of Acceptance from the college, if available. If not available, forward to the CNF office no later than April 2, 2012.
The scholarship will be based on academic achievement, financial need, and
non-school work related to horticulture. The candidate will be selected mid April 2012.

Howard Jennings
Scholarship 2012
This award is funded by the Jennings family and friends, in memory of Howard
Jennings, former nursery manager at Summer Hill Nursery and member of the
Connecticut Nursery and Landscape Association.
The grant will be in the amount of $500. This is a one-time grant to a CT student, who has been accepted by the
University of Connecticut, majoring in the field of Horticulture in either the
2 or 4-year program.
The student is to complete the same application as the CT Nurserymen’s Foundation Scholarship and will be selected by the CNF Selection Committee. If the student would like to be eligible for either scholarship, only one
application need be submitted.
The student will be awarded the scholarship, based upon academics and financial
need, with emphasis on non-school work related to horticulture.
All completed applications will be accepted through Friday, March 9, 2012. Selection of the final candidate will be mid April 2012.
